Wide Sheffield

For reasons, that would not stand up in the court, I have bought an ultra wide angle lens (a Tamron 11- 18 mm). I needed to use it as I had doubts about its quality and set off to seek suitable subjects.

Neepsend was famous for its gasworks and even though they are long gone the ground is so polluted that nothing else can be built there. Only one gas holder remains and this goes up and down depending on the whims of the Russian gas oligarchs.

Sometimes there's even too much dereliction for me to cope with. I have intended to photograph the Farfield Inn for years and just caught it in time.

While some works are now flats and offices the recession has stuffed the plans to gentrify the whole area so many old works stand empty and waiting.

This Bessemer Converter is outside the Kelham Island Museum, which is attached to the Little Mesters' cafe and bistro.

As is this rock crusher. The sandstone powder was used to make a paste to seal holes in furnace bricks.

I am not sure whether the Earl of Arundel pub can be gentrified but it clearly needs a lot of support.
