Quotes

Barbara sent me a Guardian review, of an exhibition at The Photographers Gallery, which included a Susan Sontag quote:

"Needing to have reality confirmed and experience enhanced by photographs is an aesthetic consumerism to which everyone is now addicted".

While I take no holiday "snaps" or "selfies", she seems to put her finger on the recent explosion in image taking i.e. more images taken in the last month than in the whole history of photography.

A recent magazine article contained a quote from Gary Winogrand that was more up my street

"Photography is not about the thing photographed. It is about how the thing looks photographed"

and

"Photography is about finding out what can happen in the frame. When you put four edges round some facts, you change those facts".

I had planned to take some images that fitted the various quotes but in the end could not be bothered so here are a few from a recent trip to Harrogate.

I was expecting a northern version of Bath but was disappointed by Harrogate's bad planning decisions and its general lack of elegance. It was probably disappointed in mine as well.

I have just downloaded a free demo of some focus stacking software and was keen to give it a try. More impressive examples will hopefully follow.

Here are some more from the same neck of the, mountain bike manufactured mud pile, woods.
