Around Lockwood

Lockwood is a suburb of Huddersfield, famed for its magnificent viaduct; which is now difficult to photograph given the tree growth over the past century.

I was heading there a couple of Sundays ago when I spotted this collection of feed hoppers and a well secured mill in Honley.

Huddersfield has morphed its redundant mills into swish student accommodation but Lockwood does not have that option and its abandoned mills are simply abandoned.

.

The population changes over the past decades seem to be summed up in the next image: Mosque and church sandwich David Brown's mill.

I have recently invested heavily (£5) in a "vintage" Minolta Dimage EX 1500 camera, with a massive 1.5 MP sensor. I test drove it in Barnsley last Sunday morning.

.

To paraphrase Dr Samuel Johnson: "Sir, a vintage Dimage camera is like a dog walking on his hind legs. It is not done well but you are surprised to find it done at all"
