Dovestones reservoir looks very dramatic from above but was rather unexciting once we arrived at water level. The coniferous woods were lifeless at ground level with a thick carpet of needles.

After lunch at Kitty's Café in Uppermill we headed up to Standedge, where the A62 tips over in to Yorkshire. The sun came out and the moor looked grand.
