A happy family trip to Bolsover Castle largely involved dodging showers and walking in and out of lots of empty rooms. The English Heritage website probably presents a more positive view.

Apart from its commanding position there is no sense of it being a castle. Less of a stately home more of a pleasure palace perchance.
The first thing you see on going through the gates is a magnificent copper beech.
