Little Langdale

A few days, with Margaret and Graham, at Little Langdale was a welcome reminder of the wonders of the Lake District.

I had bought an excellent photo book in Sedbergh, by Peter Freeman, and this awed me condiderably so that I stayed away from scenic images, apart from those containing Brenda, and concentrated on familiar subjects such as rusty iron and quarried slate.

The Langdale Pikes presented more of a challenge than we had bargained for, because of the wet weather and my poor map reading. However we got to the top of Pavey Arch with views of Stickle Tarn, the Langdale Valley and Windermere. Getting down was more difficult.

Aira Force was the highlight of a day out photographing waterfalls.

Hodge Close is an abandoned slate mine with a terrifying water-filled pit containing the bodies of several cave divers and a variety of old workings and slate tips.
