Snowdonia

I took my germs on a short break to Snowdonia and we found it very much to our liking. We stayed in Porthmadog and our first morning was quiet and still, both at the harbour and the narrow gauge railway station.

The colours around Lynn Dinas were very cheering.

We popped in to Swallow Falls but not before Snowden had had a good look at Brenda.

It was odd to find several bouquets and dedications under this warning sign, especially as one said "I wish you were still here"!

The path down to Fairy Glen was treacherous and littered with elderly photographers, with too much gear, tottering to their doom.

Borth Y Gest is the seaside resort next to Porthmadog and had sand, rocks and jelly fish just waiting to be saturated.

Other trips included Caernarfon Castle to see the Weeping Window of poppies; Welsh cakes taken in a tea room at the end of a windswept Bangor Pier; a walk along the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct near Llangollen and a visit to the magnificent Conway Castle with view of the Telford suspension bridge and the Stephenson box girder rail bridge.
