Nerja

A recent trip to Spain coincided with the worst weather in the last 30 years with floods in some places. I popped down to the beach during a break in the showers.

The fishermen had decided not to go to sea.

.

The sun bathers had decided to stay in bed.

.

The pedalo pushers are no where to be seen. These have an integral slide which brought to mind Spike Milligan's famous second prize of a burial at sea with a woman of your choice.

.

One way of avoiding the rain was to descend in to the famous Nerja Caves. My images were rushed, hand held and rather blurred, as we were herded through by the guide, so the virtual tour (menu at bottom right) is worth taking.

This colourful bridge links the caves to the village of Maro where we enjoyed the best Rosada we have ever tasted.

.

Near to Maro is an abandoned quarry with the derelict machinery still in place. It is said that protesting workers blocked the access with a bulldozer, which they then disabled, thus preventing the quarry owner from salvaging his plant.

Having returned home it did not take me long to find dereliction on my door step at the nearby Wortley Top Forge Industrial Museum.
