Willow Bridge

Rather than travel by car to seek reflections I thought I should set off by foot, upstream along the River Don.

.

I passed several bridges but the jewel in the crown is Willow Bridge; a packhorse bridge in Oxspring, marking the route of the salt trail from Cheshire to Wakefield.

The view of the elegant but redundant road bridge at Oxspring has suffered greatly from grotty pipework.

.

The Sheffield to Huddersfield train crosses the river at Oxspring via a fine viaduct.

.

This group of trees brought out the Pictorialist in me on the walk home.

The Stocksbridge U3A walking group did a rather more wintry walk, a couple of days later, on the moors above Langsett.
